Silent Screams

~She sits in her chambers, alone. Her hair is tangled and dull. Her eyes are simply black orbs in her face, and her pale skin has a corpse-like appearance. She is on her floor, her knees pulled up, arms wrapped around her legs, rocking slowly back and forth. It is obvious that her mind has broken down to something that is no longer Phoenix Domina Hosetu Ardea. She is beneath herself. No words escape her lips, for what words may come from such solitary madness? What might escape those chapped lips but soul-churning screams? She is no longer Hosetu, nor even little Mina. She is a monstrous visage of the Chaos wrought by Lucia's death. After all, how do you tell a madwoman that the one who kept her sane lives again? You do not. You must show her.~

~Carina cautiously enters the room, carrying a bottle of Bloodwine, which had always been used to heal Phoenixes.~
"Mater, I've brought you your drink."
~She kneels beside the madwoman, that once was her mother.~
"Come, Mater, you must drink it."
~She lifts the bottle to her mother's lips, and most of the healing drink spills down Hosetu's front. Carina is crying now, as she begins to clean the mess.~
"Can you not sense that your master has returned to us, Mater?"
~For but a moment, there is a small spark of what seems to be recognition, however Carina has been caring for this pitiful shadow for too long to be lulled into a false hope over it. The only word her mother has understood is master.~

~Disembarking from a small boat, tied to a small rock on the shore, a woman clad in black and white robes stares at the Library. THe woman's right eye scans the building, as her left no longer sees.~

"Keep the boat ready."

~She orders her bodyguard, walking up the path to the library of the island.~

"Nox Aula...Des Voigt."

~The woman pushes the doors open, staring at the chamber beyond. She slowly walks forth, stretching forth her mind to find anyone else here. PIcking up mental signatures, the woman vanishes from the library and appears inside Hosetu's chamber.~

"So, the little lap dog has lost touch with reality...pathetic."

~She smiles her cold, evil smile, staring at Hosetu.~

"You will come with me."

~Carina places herself between her mother and this strange woman.~
"The queen, as you can obviously tell, is unfit for travel."
~Her blank stare is focused, almost angrily, at the woman's chest.~
"What do you want of her?"

"Travel?!"

~The woman laughs.~

"Who said anything about travel?"

~The woman extends her hand.~

"Come, Hosetu...or face the Mistress' Wrath."

~The hollow shell of a Phoenix begins to whimper softly. Her eyes, which had been flicking aimlessly around the room, are now focused intently on Savonrola.~
"Wha-"
~Her voice wavers from months of disuse as she slowly drifts back to reality.~
"Is...it...true?"
~Her eyes beseach the woman.~
"Is...Mater...back?"

~Carina's blind eyes widen in shock as she turns to face her mother.~
"Mater?"
~She goes to kneel again beside Hosetu, hoping that perhaps the queen is finally beginning to recover.~

~A cold wind blows through the chamber, carrying whispers deep within its core.~

"bring wer kamati ekess ve. bring nebeur okarthel."

~Hosetu would stand slowly, her limbs shaking from being immobile for so long. A flash of flame, and Hosetu is wearing armor. There is a malevolent glint to her eyes, which now glow crimson as black flames swirl about her.~
"Is she? Is Lucia back?"
~Swords, daggers and whips appear at different parts of her armor as she stands, staring at Savonrola. Her wings flex as the wind moves her hair. The power that has collected within her in the past two years manifests itself in a dark glow that slowly begins to envelope her. Suddenly, the woman's words reach her ears.~
"What do you want?"
~Her voice is sharp with impatience. She wants to go to her Master.~

~Savonrola chuckles, taking Hosetu by the hand.~

"Are you ready?"

"Fine...but make it quick."

((Sorry, little bit of irony in the words. Just remember, Hosetu's bloody nuts right now.))

~A blinding flash fills the room, followed by the scent of sulfur. The two women are gone once the light fades.~
